Giving Back

We love to support our artisans and their families from around the world by showcasing their unique work to you and others who appreciate handmade treasures and the stories behind them.

We also believe in supporting charities that help women and children in ways that we are not able.

In our local community, Jen, our founder, and JJ Caprices has been deeply involved with Olive Crest, a charitable organization that provides safe houses and foster care for at-risk kids in the Greater Puget Sound region.

On a national level, JJ Caprices is a national vendor with Wine, Women and Shoes. This organization works with non-profits to help them raise needed funds for their deserving cause. To date, we have been able to give to worthy charities in Louisville, KY, Cincinnati, OH, Coeur d'Alene, ID, Fort Worth, TX and, of course, Seattle.

On an International level, we very much support and believe in the work and mission of World Vision:

"Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world."

-Nelson Mandela

Education and Entrepreneurship

In less privileged and impoverished parts of our world, girls and women face fierce oppression. In these cultures negative gender norms result in injustice and systematic poverty.

Did you know that in the developing world:

  • There are 66 million girls who are not in school
  • 14 million girls under 18 will be married this year (many against their will); 38,000 today; that is 13 girls in the last 30 seconds (UNFPA, 2012).
  • The number one cause of death for girls ages 15-19 is childbirth. (World Health Organization)
  • In a single year, an estimated 150 million girls are victims of sexual violence (UNIFEM). [50% of sexual assaults victimize girls under the age of 15 (UNFPA)]

World Vision's Strong Women, Strong World initiative supports education and sustainable change in some of the most difficult places in the world to be a girl or a woman.

A portion of every JJ Caprices purchase goes to World Vision to sponsor little girls in these developing countries. The contribution is used to provide education, water and health to these girls, their families and communities so that they can sustain a better standard of living and quality of life.

Investing in a girl's education is the highest-return investment you can make in breaking cycles of poverty. Access to quality education changes lives, builds communities and ultimately improves the world.
